Back to Thailand — 6

I’m back in Thailand now, got stuff all over my room and trying to sort them out isn’t an easy task. My room is full to the brim, there’s no where else I can put books in. I think I won’t be buying any books (or anything at all) for a long long while.

I’ll work extra hard after this, I already taken too much time off.

Still have a few photo left to post too.

Boeing Family Day

Sorry, no photo of the event, blame Boeing :p

Kayay works at Boeing Everett where the event was held today (19 August) and I decided to tag along as a ‘family’ XD. I’ve been to the Everett factory before, with the factory tour and future of flight museum, but the tour was very unsatisfying, because the tour was very short and they didn’t really let you get close to anything or even walk the factory floor, so today I was hoping that they would open up the factory more, and I wasn’t disappointed, They actually open up the factory floor and let people walked in, altho most of the actual production area were sealed off, you could really get close enough to all the cool mechanic stuff, the best thing was probably the crane demonstration, they were running one crane lifting the wing (the actual wing of 777) moving back and forth and spinning it around, really cool. I seriously wish I had photographic memory =/

After walking around the factory and visiting Kayay’s cubicle, we went to the beach nearby (I think it’s Mukilteo beach) and visited the little lighthouse there.

Nobody stopped us from taking some photo here, so we took some :)

Archery Me — 2

Renaissance Fair #1

I went to Renaissance fair with Kayay yesterday on 12th August. It was kinda similar to Medieval Fair I went to in June, but this one was much better, the weather was perfect, not too sunny, not too cold, the layout of the whole fair was better, no long walk from one place to another, better shows (cheesier, but things like this, the cheesier the better), better food, not just hotdog and crap, I had giant turkey leg and giant curley fries. I really like Thomas the Juggler. His show was the best out of all at the Fair. But all those isn’t what made yesterday special it’s actually something I’ve been wanted to do since watching the first Lord of The ring for the first time.

I shoot a real bow!

summary rambling

I’m back at Seattle, I prefer cold than heat, went to see uber fireworks yesterday at lake union, trying to sort through my works today to put together portfolio, I have bad feeling about this, it’s what I have been wanted to do, portfolio reviews, but I dread the dismissal that is sure to come, maybe it will be the usual, ‘you are not what we’re looking for’ or maybe it will be the unusual but happen ‘you suck’ (directly or indirectly, either way is bad)

Two Weeks in America

Everyone: How is America?
Shari: COLD X_x

That’s about to sum it up so far, I’m staying with Kayay who is in Seattle where it is very hilly (me likes) and very windy (me no likes), the temperature was somewhat between 50 - 70 F which is fine and dandy until I converted it to Celsius, holy mother of god, that was 10 - 20 C! THAT is the lowest I have ever been in, and this is supposed to be summer…

I don’t want to think about my WINTER trip to Netherlands later this year @_@

altho cold weather does have its use, I finally got to wear big long coats, jackets, and SOCKS! without sweating all over myself <3

Kayay , who also cook and feed me *shame*, took me to eat around the town - seafood, steaks, italians, sushi, junkfood, BBQ. I like all the food so far, I wish I took the picture, but I forgot most of the time @_@ I don’t know if I can say all food is good, because if I like it then it’s good enough for me, my standard isn’t high XD (don’t take it wrong way, Seattle XD)

one thing I noticed tho, that surprised me the most, strangers talk to you all the times, salesperson, shopkeeper, waiter waitress etc. They talked to you more than necessary, and by necessary I mean like salesperson or service person in Thailand who wouldn’t strike for small talk or talk at all unless it’s absolutely necessary, and Thailand supposed to be a land of smile eh? maybe they only smile to foreigners and people who looks rich.

I also got to visit alot of animal shelters, mostly cats, and holy smoke, these cats are BIG, I tried to pick up one that was listed as ‘extra large’ and almost topple over, I haven’t seen such big cats before, it made Thai cats look anorexic.

and don’t make me start about dog, most of the ‘large’ dogs are heavier than me, rather frightening, I wouldn’t want to be lone in the same room with any of them, they could kill me bare.. er.. paw. XD

beside animal shelters and restaurants, I also went to Seattle Art Museum, Market, Malls, watched cat show, attended Medieval Faire, I’d have written something about those, but I think, photos do a better job :D

I’m in America now :D

arrived safely, if not smoothly @_@

The shorten version: I got grilled by the border security people for hours and I was the last from the morning flights to leave tacoma airport.

The long version was that, they told me they needed to do the additional checking because my passport is new, and I intended to stay long, and they probably think that I’m here to stay. While other people just had to scan their finger printes and taken mugshot, before given the permit stamp, I was given this giant red plastic card and got shifted into kinda back room and into what was looking suspiciously like interrogating room @_@, it was probably that, except that there wasn’t any shouting and flashlight in the face, just alot of questions and looking through all my stuff, I mean, ALL. The officer went through stuff in my bag, my wallet and my suitcase, and actually went to check sixkillerbunnies.com, checking my cellphone and reading the diary I wrote on the plane, much to my embarrassment, I think, only because my story are added up and consistent that they allow me to enter. all the while I keep thinking about the case that the guy who got strip search at border and was only allowed to enter for one day, if that happened, I think I’d breakdown for sure, it was so scary, but thankfully nothing like that happened. The officer was polite but firm and explained to me that he understands that these stuff are private but he has duty to go through them, and it will be only be between me and him and it won’t leaving this room, I actually don’t have much problem with the said diary spreading around since I intended to post that here anyway, but it’s good to know that they are still being courteous and considerate.

When they finally let me enter and I walked out of the area, I found that a few more officers there heard about me and remarked about me being artist, it was so weird and kind of fuzzy at the same time, fuzzy enough that I wanted to leave the airport as soon as humanly possible, juggling the giant suitcase that costed me 50$ for excess baggage with me.

I think I had enough excitement to last for months, now I’ll enjoy quiet day, surfing endless cable tv and practicing cg on 22″ wide screen LCD monitor :D
