Workspace April 2008

I just tidy up my workspace, now it’s pretty!, I sold my pc, making room for more books and stuff, I need more bookshelves.

workspace, april 2008

I bought parallels yesterday, because I need to use some program that only available on pc (the usual story) it works out nicely, altho not very idealistic, I wish I didn’t have to resort to this, but inking on photoshop just sucks major arse.

in case you can’t tell, I’m very happy right now. — 3

I’ve been using dingy Macmini (1.4GHZ, 1G RAM, onboard video card) to do far more than it was supposed to be used for. It was my main machine for all the works I did these past few years, it faithfully served me without fail, it was really worth the price I paid for.

But I retired it today, it was high time I catch up with the rest of the world and upgrade my main work station. Also because I need to use those goddarn texture brushes in photoshop :{

Say Hello to Baby Deux (temporary name!) 2.4GHZ core 2 duo, 3G RAM, 256MB RadeonHD2600, about trice as fast as my poor Little Baby (the mac mini) I hope this one last me at least six years, I gotta recoup the cost XD
oh yeah baby!

my setup — 7

mac mini
Haven’t posted any photo here for awhile. This is my main machine, the one I use everyday for works, it’s SLOW, 1.42 GHz PPC G4, and altho it has 1GB RAM, there is no hope for me to actually working on 600DPI works while listening to itunes, I can actually hear it groans while I use photoshop T_T

The white thingy in the middle is KVM switch, the thingy in the bottom is Lacie mini external HD.

New shiny Apple aluminum keyboard — 1

IMG_0462
cold hard facts:
1) Yep, I’m broke.
2) Yep, my old (Apple plastic white) Keyboard still very well functional.
3) Yep, I didn’t plan this, I just walked pass the store.
4) It does feel really good, I like it much better than the last one, (which basically a dirt and crumbs trap, very disgusting in that aspect @_@) despite how a lot of people complained about this, I got used to it right away, and the fact that it is very flat made it feels very comfortable when typing, considered the way it rested on my tablet, it just fit right in.
5) I named it Lumi.

PAX ‘07 — 4

My second convention ever has nothing to do with comic at all. It was Penny Arcade Expo, which I attended with Kayay, we actually planned to volunteer, but we forgot to send in the form, (with Comic Con and all). I have been wanted to attend PAX for a while, the idea of walking around playing any games I wanted and snag some freebies was very appealing to me, altho my dream didn’t really account the other 30,000 people at the Con trying to do the same thing, I still wasn’t disappointed, in fact, I enjoy it more than Comic-con.

PAX
The highlight of PAX ‘07 for me was getting to try games I was curious about for the longest time, especially Eternal Sonata, a game that I might just buy Xbox 360 for, another highlight was the PA strip making panel and Wil Wheaton panel.

Crab Pot — 1

One of my goal in the state is to eat as many kind of food as possible, Kayay told me about Crab Pot a while ago, and we finally went there.

While it was fun to eat, I prefer my seafood with Thai style spicy dipping more, but it was great meal all the same.

Some Photo from the evening:

Boeing Family Day

Sorry, no photo of the event, blame Boeing :p

Kayay works at Boeing Everett where the event was held today (19 August) and I decided to tag along as a ‘family’ XD. I’ve been to the Everett factory before, with the factory tour and future of flight museum, but the tour was very unsatisfying, because the tour was very short and they didn’t really let you get close to anything or even walk the factory floor, so today I was hoping that they would open up the factory more, and I wasn’t disappointed, They actually open up the factory floor and let people walked in, altho most of the actual production area were sealed off, you could really get close enough to all the cool mechanic stuff, the best thing was probably the crane demonstration, they were running one crane lifting the wing (the actual wing of 777) moving back and forth and spinning it around, really cool. I seriously wish I had photographic memory =/

After walking around the factory and visiting Kayay’s cubicle, we went to the beach nearby (I think it’s Mukilteo beach) and visited the little lighthouse there.

Nobody stopped us from taking some photo here, so we took some :)
